The Salvage lab is a pioneering brand offering to pair clients with designers and salvaged materials. We helped them take there vision further, providing a distinctive look and feel to connect more broadly across North America.

There has been a trend gaining momentum over the past few years around salvaging, recycling; and upcycling materials. But the trend isn’t just being instigated by companies and designers. It has become very clear that there is a strong desire coming from customers to change their habits and to consume in a different way.

Approach

People have become far more aware and interested in knowing how their products are built and where they come from. The Salvage Lab offers unique designs that address those needs and concerns — needs that we think will only become more accentuated with time.

Too often recycling is perceived as crafty. My approach for The Salvage lab was to elevate the recycling game and create a premium image for this custom furniture-making service.

I developed a sharp wordmark and logo inspired by the irregularities of salvaged materials. I elaborated a graphic language made up of icons representing the different materials available, and crafted a unique digital experience to help guide consumers in their choice.

In May 2017, The Salvage Lab presented an experimental exhibition, End Up, during the New York Design Week.
