Grande was founded in 2013 by Charlotte Sunnen and Aurelie Mathieu based on the idea of creating projects mixing geometrical elements, technical challenges, noble materials and craftmanship technique.

Originating from a partnership with the marble mason’s workshop “Gros-Derudet” based in Lyon, 6x6 is a project optimising physical properties of stone to push the limits of traditional constraints. Inspired by wooden laminated panels, this material is designed as a sandwich of stone glued together later cut into 6 cm by 6 cm battens. This method significantly increases the rigidity of the stone by creating a new raw material. It then becomes possible to produce pieces of a much greater range while using the leftovers from this industry. This approach allows to implement a system which creates furniture and large structures preserving the thin stone range.

Composed of 3 pieces, a coffee table, a console and a lamp, 6x6 part 2 has been designed as statement pieces integrated into consumers daily life.

Location always had been of importance for Grande. The photoshoot took place in a villa on the french riviera. The house full of light, art and designer furniture gave a fantastic canvas to stage 6x6 part 2.
